FAQs
What Is An Instant Pot?
If you don’t know what an instant pot is it’s a fairly new kitchen appliance that is 7 tools in one. You can use an instant pot for all of the following functions: pressure cooker, rice cooker, slow cooker, saute pan, yogurt maker, steamer, and warming pot.
We were skeptical about getting an instant pot, at first. New appliances always seem to pop up claiming to replace half of your kitchen.
After listening to our family members rave and reading through some of the 26,000 positive Amazon reviews, we made the jump.
But once we realized how easy it was to just use ONE item for so many different recipes, well let’s just say that we were totally sold.
When you can cook breakfast, make easy and delicious dinners for your family, or even make mouth-watering desserts all with just this one dish? Well, that’s just taking the cooking game to a whole new level!
It’s honestly been life-changing, and we highly recommend you look into getting your own to help simplify your life. The best place to purchase your own instant pot is right on Amazon.
What Can I Use An Instant Pot For?
The more appropriate question might be “what can I not use an instant pot for?”
Since this one appliance replaces so many others, there really isn’t a recipe or an ingredient that you can’t get cooked just right using an instant pot!
But don’t let the term “cooking” limit you. If you can think of other situations where its functions might apply, then feel free to use it! One example that immediately comes to mind is home canning in mason jars.
Another way to get creative is to gasp and get yourself two instant pots.
Why? Because then you can be making two identical pots of the exact same meal, and one can be for dinner tonight plus some leftovers, and the other can be for making batch meal prepping that much more convenient!

Can I Make Cheap Instant Pot Meals Healthy?
Absolutely!
While yes, you do commonly find many cheap instant pot meals full of rich sauces and a lot of calories, it’s totally possible to find and make recipes that are either lighter fare in general, or are modified to save your waist from expanding!
The other great thing about cooking with an instant pot is that, unlike some other cooking methods, the pressure cooking aspect does a great job of NOT stripping vegetables of their flavor and nutrients.
The only thing worse than trying to get kids to eat their veggies is trying to get kids to eat veggies that either taste like nothing or taste gross from overcooking!
Use your instant pot on the weekend to whip up a bunch of healthy, flavorful veggies to use in lunches all week long to make packing your kids a healthy lunch that much easier!
Can I Make Instant Pot Meals When I’m Not Home?
The answer to this one is both yes and no. But lucky for you, the “no” answer won’t be a problem in most cases!
If you’re only going to use the instant pot to make a quick batch of plain white rice, for example, you’ll have that made in about 20 minutes or less (depending on the amount), so while you could turn it on and walk out the door, it’ll be sitting all day long, ready to go and waiting for you.
I wouldn’t want to eat it after it sat for nearly 8 hours. But since it’s so quick to cook up that batch of rice, you don’t even need to worry about the fact that you’ll have to wait to cook it until you get home! Even the
If you’re going to use it for a crock pot recipe, on the other hand, then yes, you 100% can leave it cooking while you’re gone at work exactly the same as if you were using a traditional slow cooker. Just make sure you have an instant pot slow cooker lid on hand for those recipes!
After using the instant pot for a while now, we put together a list of some of our favorite cheap instant pot recipes. As always these recipes are easy to follow and absolutely delicious. Enjoy!
